Desires of Thine Heart

I have been neglecting my health (and this blog) lately. It needs more of my focus.

However, it's twice the work to maintain two blogs. I have another blog, ...desires of thine heart, which focuses on the desires of my heart. Aren't heart health and weight loss desires of mine? So, why not share it here? It only makes sense!

PCOS - What Is That?

I have PCOS. I was diagnosed in October, 2004.
So, what is it anyway?

PCOS stands for polycystic ovary syndrome.

My definition is that it causes lots of cysts on my ovaries, while increasing my risk of acne, obesity, diabetes, and heart disease. I take a prescription called yasmin, which is a wonder-drug in my opinion. It truly improves my mood and acne, while getting rid of the the cysts and regulating my cycles.

I discovered I had pcos when I didn't have a cycle for several months. Pregnancy tests were negative, and I began to worry. So, I visited the doctor to discover this.

I am very thankful that the symptoms of pcos didn't take effect until after my son and daughter were born. So many women have trouble with infertility because of pcos. I am very grateful for my kiddos!

Looking Forward to June 1st

I haven't been consistent. We will have to wait until Friday to go grocery shopping for some "Weight Watchers" friendly food. So, I'll be back on points by Saturday.

Eight Weeks Away

Church camp is eight weeks away. Today, my weight is 168. I wanted to be at most 150 pounds, when we went to camp. A safe 1-2 pounds per week will get me between 152 and 160 pounds, if I get back on track today. So, here's my weight loss plan for the next eight weeks:

  • Walk at least five mornings each week with my family.
  • Drink water with every meal.
  • Drink less pop -- hoping to give it up completely.
  • Write down all ww food points, even if I go over. Keeping track helps me think about what I am putting into my mouth.

Sounds simple enough.

Smart Habit Saturday: May's Drinking More Water Continued

I stated that I wanted to drink more water in May. I am drinking more water with my meals, but I am still consuming pop like it's a consuming addiction. Well, it is!!

So, here's my plan for the rest of May. Drink more water, and replace the diet pop with water entirely! That only gives me a week, and yes, I'm bound to end up with a caffeine withdrawal headache. However, the diet pop is no good for me! Not in any way, whatsoever! So, why am I drinking it?!? Simply because it's a habit that I like.

So, PEPSI BE GONE!!
